Bench Update Nov 7th

I’m calling the CF-233 done. The kit had a few issues, particularly with the tailplane. Finished up with the IMPS Canada decal set from the summer. My only regret was that I think putting the decals on the upper side of the tailplane would have looked better. 2nd kit in the RCAF what-if series. A simple build without care for a lot of detail desired or wanted.   Following the loss of the US Air Force ATF contract, Northrop/McDonnell Douglas decided to look further afield for what they still considered as a viable option for a 5th generation fighter. NATO countries were contacted and Canada expressed interest due to features like supercruise and the reliability of twin engines.   Next project is the Angel Interceptor from Captain Scarlet.   For such an old kit, the fit is better then I expected, except for the engine intake. YF-23 1/72 Italeri Unboxing

The YF-23 was in competition to the YF-22 in the ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighter) completion in which the YF-22 won, becoming the F-22 Raptor in the USAF.  The YF-23 had a faster speed and a greater range and many viewed it as a viable platform at the time. Overall a fairly straightforward-looking kit.  I didn’t realize how big the aircraft is.
