1/72 Eduard Spitfire Mk. IXc Part 2

Quite a big update as I’ve been making slow and steady progress. After some photoetch was put on, the parts were then primed and painted XF-71. For me this is a ‘close enough’ match to RAF interior green.  Once this has dried, additional parts are then put on after being painted up. Also some other painting is done in those areas that need it. The whole sub-assembly is then put together.  The fit is quite good. I am always impressed with the quality and look of P/E instrument pan The two fuselage halves are then put together.  Just a small amount of filling to do. I recently switched to Deluxe’s Perfect Plastic Putty and it is fantastic. No shrinkage and easy cleanup.

Bandai 1/72 TIE Interceptor Part 4

All three sections now together.  I’ll use Alclad Ultra-Gloss to seal in the base painting prior to weathering. Weathering starts with UMP’s Ultimate Weathering Wash. I like the product as there is no order and being water based after about 20-30 minutes, I use cotton buds dipped in water to take the excess off. At this point, the three main assemblies are ready to be put together. The base was primed and painted with Tamiya XF82 Ocean Gray 2 (RAF) Everything ready to go together.

Bandai 1/72 TIE Interceptor Part 1

As I previously mentioned. the next build will be the Bandai 1/72 TIE Interceptor.  I picked this kit up a while ago and did an inbox review of it at that point.   Looking forward to building it up. The first order of business is figuring out what color I wanted to paint it.  There have been many discussions across the internet about what the true color is.  Suggestions from a light grey to a more bluish dark gray.   I prefer the later myself but I also knew I was going to be adding a wash which will darken and weather the base coat. In the end, there were two possible choices, both by Tamiya. XF 66 Light Grey and XF 82 Ocean Grey 2 (RAF).
