CF-199 Complete

Following several competition losses many design and engineering staff at Lockheed Martin, were headhunted by Avro Canada following the success of their CF-105 Arrow program.  By the late 70’s Avro was looking into the next generation of strike aircraft for the RCAF to meet its NATO comment in Europe for an aircraft that could assist in targeted attacks on Warsaw Pact airfields and other targets in the event of war breaking out. Thanks to the talent brought in from the Lockheed staff, Avro came up with a next-generation strike aircraft that could penetrate deep behind enemy lines and deliver precision strikes to targets of opportunity.   Thus the CF-199 Panther was born….
