Decalling commences, here is my setup for applying decals. I also use a small bristle brush sometimes, but I forgot to get it out for the shot… Didn’t take long to apply the few decals were with this kit. Next up a gloss coat and then weathering will begin.
Got the tracks finished and then attempted to put them on the hull. One went on well, the other one….. The second track split into two parts…. I have several options here, but I think I am going to make a diorama based on the track being damaged. For now, I’m taking a break from it. With the launch of the Scale Model Podcast and my Local IPMS club show, I haven’t had time on the bench in the last little while. After this weekend I’ll decide if I’m going to finish this first or start on the F-18.
Started working on painting the tracks. These are vinyl tracks which always present a challenge when trying to glue them together. Fortunately, we are not at that stage yet. I primed them with Stynylrez excellent black primer. I had some Gunze rust and the original plan was to do a base coat of that. When I checked the jar out, it had mostly dried up so decided to do a mix of Tamiya colors in the following ratios XF-52 30% XF-64 40% X-7 10% XF-56 20% Thinned to with Tamiya thinner at 50:50 and sprayed on. Quite pleased with the result. However, I will have to do a second batch as I forgot to paint the extra tracks to go on the hull, at least I remembered to prime them…..
