CF-21 Peregrine

With the Avro CF-233 entering service as a 5th-generation fighter. DeHavilland Canada decided to start planning for a 5.5 or 6th-generation multirole aircraft for the RCAF. Several engineers from the CF-233 program joined the DeHavilland team to take advantage of the CF-233 combined with 21st-century advancements in technology to produce an aircraft more advanced than had been done before.

Improvements in stealth and engine technology meant the expectation of new speed and dive records being achieved in the simulations the decision was made to name the aircraft the Peregrine. Shortly after that, the RCAF gave the prototype the designation of CF-21.

In its first test flight the prototype exceeded all its parameters and it was at that point DeHavilland realized that they had something very special on their hands…..

1/72 Hasegawa YF-21 built straight from the box. Good fit and a few more lessons learned for the next Macross fighter build. Painted with Aqueous paints thinned with Mr Color Levelling thinner. Decals were from Leading Edge and the IPMS Canada RT decal sheet for 2023.
