Started working on the Mig 37 Ferret while some filler was drying on the Tamiya Beaufighter. The Mig will be a very basic build, with even the canopy painted over due to a lack of detail in the cockpit.
I know it’s going to be a tail sitter unless I put some weight in so that was the first order of business. Between some BBs, Liquid Gravity and some CA, there should be enough weight now.
When this was done, I decided to act upon something which I’d been thinking about for a while. A clean and re-org of the workbench. It’s become a bit message and I have not been happy with some of the ergonomics and space.
I find it easier if I clear everything off and then put stuff back in a better way.
I decided to replace the shoe rack I had been using as it is too deep for the items I put in there. Instead, I put 2 smaller wall racks I had picked up at Goodwill a while ago. I attached them to the wall and it’s a perfect spot with extra space for things like thinners, glues and cleaners. In front of them are some small storage trays for sanders. This freed up quite a bit of working space.
I took out a large craft paint carousal which had barely been used and put the two sets of plastic drawers which were previously on the shoe rack. A small set of orange drawers were also backed there, the contents need to be sorted and purged as I’ve not used them in years. The spray booth was moved slightly over to the right and I put the frequently used thinners and cleaners in a small tray right beside it.
The final result is a much cleaner look. I still consider this a work in progress, I want to get another set of IKEA Alex drawers which would greatly help in some of the items still on top of the bench. For now, I’m very happy with the result and will hopefully aid the mojo.
